Offroad Ontario race report from La Tuque, QC

Official Offroad Ontario Press Release, 9/1/10

Nearly 20 Ontario riders made the long trek deep into the heart of Quebec to race the first two rounds of the Offroad Ontario Eastern Canadian Enduro Championship.

The course was nasty but a lot of fun, even the natural gas cut was very tough in places with sandy rock strewn hill climbs that left a lot of riders pushing, pulling and generally coaxing their bikes over the top. There is nothing like riding in Quebec, the race started in the parking lot of the local ski hill right in town, then proceeded through the streets of town ran down to the local river where it did a long beach run, then back through town and into the hills. That’s where things got interesting, the jury is out on what was rougher the uphills or the down hills, but all agreed the scenery was awesome  and everyone is making plans already for next year

The whole gang would like to thank Theirry and the whole FMSQ crew for being great hosts, helping us through the language barrier and putting on a terrific race!

Top-10 results for Offroad Ontario riders:

40+: Rick Hone 6/6,  Darren Marsiske 9/7

Int: Mike Jonker 3/1, Chris Culbert Costello 4/2, Desmond McGill 5/3, Greg Bastedo 6/7, Rome Haloftis 10/6

Jr: Barry Armstrong 3/4, Kenny Beach 5/3,  Matt Leonard 4/5

Congratulations to you all for a job well done.  The next OffRoad Ontario event takes place this weekend in Codrington, it’s the final Cross Country race of the 2010 Series, should be a great race!
