No holds barred, unplugged and unedited Guy Giroux race report

What a crazy week ! Spent trying to get faster in mx, and getting everything ready for Friday morning… Two races in the same week end means double the job, I probably put everything in double and triple in the rig! Racing MX, Plus the fact that Karine was gonna be filmed all day made everything more stressful…

Anyway I got to X-town on Friday morning and already it was packed and crazy, so many rigs, the guys had reserved me a super nice spot right next to the spectator area. I dropped the rig and went back home to finish prepping my stuff… Went back there at around 9pm change a few set ups on the bikes for the early practice and went to bed.

Next morning thing went under way really quickly, at 7:30am Karine was already doing practice, and I was in the next one, everything went good, the bike was ripping and I was feeling really good. The camera crew showed up, and things got a little more tense… there was people everywhere around the trailer watching what was happening…. Karine first moto was only one race ahead of me so we left together for stagging, I prepared her a nice launching pad and gave her some last pointers, she started in about 7th place and rode good, passing 2 more girls and finishing 5th (first 125…). Now it was my time I went off and got an ok start in about 10th, passed a few guys in the first lap, but then got in 7th and got stuck behind 450’s I was trying everymove in the book, but could not match the raw acceleration off those 4 stroke on my 250 woodsy bike, then a few laps later guys were getting tired and I was ready to strike… but my bike suffered mechanical failure!!!!!!!!!!! What a bad way to start the week end… Plus I did not have the parts to fix it for the last moto’s or the next day race! So I became a full time mechanic for the rest of the day and helped Karine finish her day…. In her last moto she again got a 7th place start and was riding good until she tipped over in one corner and lost 3 more spot , she got back and finished the moto in 8 th .

Then it was re-packing time and to leave for the Sunday race…but before we left we had a fund raising deal for kids cancer, where me and a few friends got our melon shaved… We were able to raise a few hundred dollars with that gig and we now look like skinhead’s…

As soon as we left the rain started we got in Ormstown and it was already dark and slippery in the parking , I got a nice spot , cooked lunch, and went to bed!

Next morning it was still raining, so I prepped Karine’s bike with extra spoiler on the handguards and the short seat, tapped an extra visor on the helmet and sent her racing, She got an Ok start in fifth after having to stop to avoid a first turn pileup… on the first lap she was in first and riding good, second lap in 2nd, third lap in 3rd…. then she settle her pace and finished the race in third. Really good considering it was her first race aboard the 144, plus the fact that she sucks in mud and rocks…

Now it was my time, and the only thing I didn’t had in double in the trailer was a bike for me…. So It left me with the easy choice of riding the 144 again… So I washed her bike, changed a few clicks on the suspension, bolted my front number plate and off to the line I was, with blue side number plate and Karine written on them…

The next thing that happen was the most chaotic start ever witnesses in FMSQ history…. The Mayor of the town was there to give the start and since the FMSQ referee always drop the flag after 2 second ….You all gueseds what happened bunch of bike started after 2 second while the flag was up, and then the poor mayor panicked and dropped the flag and we left but the referee stopped us and put us back for a restart… Then again after 2 seconds this time it was Jason that started his bike and left, once again the mayor panicked and dropped the flag so we all started slow waiting for the referee to re-stop the race , but he didn’t ????? So Jason was 5 bike lengths ahead while we were all yelling and waiting for something to happen, I guess we can’t blame the referee for missing the most important start of the day!!!! We have to give him a chance there is a lot of nice girls to watch by the side of the race track…Anyway I will get back with this later.

So I’m stuck in about 5th place getting roost like crazy, but the bike is going super nice. By the middle of the first lap I’m in 2nd, and riding good, on lap 2 I pull the trigger and get in second but by then Jason is long gone, anyway he is so fast that it’s not even a plan to try to chase him down anymore….. my goal is just to get in second and beat all the Qcers on the 144 again!!! The laps were real long and Karine pull me in for refuel on lap 3, and it give 3rd place a chance to catch up, so I rode good and got away again, rain was still pouring and the track was crazy slippery, so I concentrated on staying up and avoiding trouble!

Karine again pulls me in for the second refuel after 3 more laps, and now I only have 2 more laps to go and everything is under wrap. So I ride my last lap smooth and when I get to the finish …BOOOUUUM The drama explode !!!! During the race the referee was informed that somebody was gonna do a protest against Jason start…. So he decided to give him a 3min penalty but only advised his crew on the last lap… Which was completely stupid!!! So anyway to make a stupid story short I was gonna win because of a protest…. That I wasn’t gonna make!!!, all this caused by the referee mistake of missing the start… and not giving Jason the 3 min stop and go before…So after a long discussion , It was decided by ME once again …cause nobody from the FMSQ would…I decided that I wasn’t gonna win under protest and that the winner should be the fastest guy on the track.

I hope the FMSQ and everybody involved will learn from that mistake!!! The serie is not making any progress and the numbers of entry is crazy, but the number of unhappy racers is also getting bigger …which indicates something is wrong…Whatever I hate drama , I just want to race my bike ! and more importantly have FUN… and I’m not having much this year at the FMSQ.

So I packed my stuff and left the slippery muck behind, let my bro take the rig home while I race his metro sexual car to Montreal downtown where my buddy’s were waiting for me for a show we have been waiting for 15 yrs…. Sublime was in town !!! and we weren’t gonna miss that for any reason!!! What a show it was awesome!!! And we had a blast rocking out!!!

So now I’m sitting in a plane to Whistler, writing this, on my way to my 40 yrs old party with my 2 buddy’s , some people when they turn 40 buy red sport car….., go hunting in the deep wood…., or other boring stuff…. We are going out on a crazy mountain bike trip on the planet finest trails and jumps!!!! So expect some crazy pics next week. And then when I’m back it will be 8 races in a row!!!!!!!

So enjoy your week , cause I will enjoy mine big time!

Over and out,

G- Rocks

p.s Ì`m not stoned out in the Bar… Mud race was hard on my eyes!
