Wild Wild Wingham!! DBESC round-two a big hit!

Press release from Dirty Bikes Racing, August 26, 2010. Photos by Shari Martin

Over the two days that made up this past weekend there was some exciting racing in the little hamlet of Wingham, Ontario. The weather was hot, humid and at times wet…perfect for testing your resolve.

On Saturday, the second round of the DBESC presented by Machine Racing (aka “The Sprint”) was the center of attention. With attendance double that of round 1 it appearances many racers are getting the word out that this series kicks butt. We had pros like Cockayne, Millson, Van Hove and Brian “T-Bone” Marshall. We had vets such as Rome “Baja Iron Man” Haloftis , Dave Nelson and Paul Andratis. But we also had lots of amateurs and first time racers. There was the Sudbury crew that loved the venue so much they stayed for the XC the following day. Then there was the only female participant, who was my favourite racer from the whole weekend. Rose was visibly not comfortable with the course. But after the racing was done she went back out to the Enduro and Cross Tests and tackled the course until she overcame the obstacles that seemed daunting a few hours earlier. The next time I saw Rose was during the XC the following day at the top of a nasty hill she had just raced her bike up…smiling.

So overall the story of the Wingham Sprint was that this type of racing is for anyone with a will to challenge their riding abilities. Few were disappointed. This quote from Rome Haloftis sums it up. “Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Diving board through the barn awesome! Riding over the monkey bars awesome! Jumping of the hay wagon awesome! Riding over the car awesome! The teeter totter awesome! The snowmobile trailer jump awesome! The Enduro Course, the MX Track and the venue itself just awesome!!! One of my favorite events ever! Cheers Rome”

This round was a great balance of fun and difficult. From the “Hill Billy” Extreme Test to the technical yet loamy Enduro Test to the blazing fast Cross Test the course had something for everyone. If you missed it…well it sucks to be you!!! Dirty Bikes would like to thank Machine Racing, Revloc for their support and George McIntosh for the use of his land and the hard work creating Hill Billy Haven. Also, congrats to Adam “Cheeseburger” Millson for being the top pro after 2 rounds. Adam wins free entry into the PSGP Presented by Honda Canada. Way to go Cheeseburger!!!
