Guy Giroux's wild but winning weekend in Parry Sound

Well it’s that time again when everything becomes a crazy rush… The last 2 national have arrived, plus the montreal sx is just a few weeks away, and i still have 2 FMSQ rounds to win after all this…..

So as you guess last week was still another crazy one, as i had to uncrate and prepare 2 more bikes, one for Ryan , and my personal 300…  Before i get too far i will clarify my move to E3 , first reason i sucked in E2 out west, 2nd reason Marty couln’t come out east (so no E3 rider for us..), 3rd reason we still have a few 300 in the wharehouse…, etc etc…  So i decided i was moving to E3 in hope to get a few podium finish before the end of the season….

Anyway i left home on thursday afternoon, all by myself, as nobody could take anytime off!!!   The drive was really boring, as my Ipod is still dead, and the Ontario resident driving at 75km/h are really driving me crazy!!!!!  But at least it gave me time to think !!!  how could i get faster, would that 300 be the secret weapon to make me fly???  was there gonna be a lot of sand???  Why are my legs so short??? does ontario police beat the hell out of you if you drive 81 in a 80 zone???  etc etc

Got there at 10pm, and only 30 sec after i got off the truck , i already had John Nelson bugging me….. good thing i only see him once a year!!!  Then we did bench race for a while until Mr.Nelson decided we were too loud…  Gotta give him a break he is getting old!!!!!!

Next morning i went walking the test, and those were really what i was looking for, sandy , round rocks, slippery roots hummmm just what i ride all week long!   So i was really looking foward to racing.

Saturday morning came and i got ready, the first transfer would be my time to get adjust to that new 300, it was pretty good, but i wasnt 100% sure the power was more like an open bike,  and i seem to rev my bikes pretty bad this year….  Whatever there was no turning back, i would have to get use to it quickly..  All my test were good, did not make any mistake all day, was i flying ??? i didn’t know, everything felt good but not that fast but i knew i did not loose time doing many mistake, and from looking at the western guys i knew they were struggling with the sand. So after the last test, i drove my bike to the rig to get it cleaned up and change my rear tire, while they were doing the scores…
An hour later i heard i was first in E3 i was pumped, i had beat Geoff, and put that 300 on top of the E3 podium, a few second later i realized i had won the overall, and by a big margin 40 seconds!!!!!!!!!!  WOW  What happen!!!  ya i rode good but that good…. i guess all my cross time were a couples second faster than everyone, my extreme were the same and my enduro test were finally equal to everyone…  i Still cant believe it , i WON the Overall!!!!  I was the fastest dude in Canada that day!!!!  I’ve been chasing that dream since 1983…..   And i had just did it!!!  I was stoked!!! I Tried to enjoy that 15min of fame as much as i could, and as soon as the trophies were over i went back to finish working on my bikes and to cook myself some food….   Once again that night we spend some time bench racing and discussing lines at Chris VH trailer , even had mama VH sponsoring me some cupcakes…

Sunday came and my plan was clear ride safer!!! just no mistake and the week end would be in the bag… The rain made the enduro test really slippery and i backed off a bit my pace to make sure i would not do a mistake… i did a small mistake in the 2nd extreme test 8-10 sec, but my mx test time should be good enough… So i finish the day with no major mistake, and was confident i could wrap the week end, when the result came out ……  shit i was too slow, my mx time were good i again got the best time, my extreme were good, except for that mistake, but i sucked in the enduro test, losing close to 20 sec one lap to Jason…………  I was so pissed!!!!!  Why did i ride conservative…why didn’t i pinned it ????  Will never know, but when i was on the bike riding smooth looked like the best decision at the time…  Anyway i did win E3 again and got second overall, wich is way better than what i was doing out west…

Right after trophies i pointed the rig home and drove another 8 hrs straight, thinking about the week end overall i had just lost!!!  And at the same time thinking about that saturday Win!!!!!!!  Anyway the drive wasnt as bad as the people that usually drive at 75 were probably watching TV….  I only got really stressed when i could not find an open garage with diesel in 300 km….  when i found one the lil computer had been saying zero for a good 15 min….

So monday i woke up in my house, and back to getting ready i was, cleaning the week end bike and gear, and planning the week, i was also able to get a little 2hrs bicycle ride in later.

So another crazy week again as tonight is another bicycle ride, tomorrow is bannering up the test then some mx, then thursday clean up , friday drive and setting up, saturday and sunday hopefully better result!!!  Having my personal pit crew aka Flexy will probably help and make the pics look nicer……    It would be really nice to finish the season with a week end overall!!!!!!!!!!
