Team BETA- Current and future trials champions meet

Steve Fracy, July 1/11 Canada Day

While going to compete in Rounds 7/8 of the PNTA championship series in Ioco, BC, we were shocked to learn that the best rider in Canada, Wilson Craig had joined the BETA team. Matt Fracy was very excited when hearing the news, and in fact I had known for most of the week but was sworn to secrecy!

Wilson is currently the most accomplished trials rider in Canada, and despite the fact that he no longer competes full time in the US National Series his incredible skill has not diminished. After only having a total of 2hrs to break in his new Factory 300 2T replica prior to the event, he easily won both days with half the score of his closest competitor! It was impressive to say the least!

The event itself was a classic Loco tough event, made tougher by a rogue rainstorm the evening before and most of Saturday. A tight time limit and a very demanding loop made things even more taxing on the Expert and Champ riders.

Since the first two rounds of the WTC Nationals in Summerland, BC, Matt has been stepping up his training and preparing for the final two events in Quebec by riding up a class in Expert at Victoria PNTA and again in Ioco last weekend. In fact, on the Saturday in Ioco, Matt rode brilliantly in a tough class with 11 riders and pulled out an excellent fifth place, beating at least three riders he had never previously beaten before! This did not go unnoticed, and after just turning 15 Matt has established himself on the West Coast and perhaps all of Canada as THE hottest up and coming trials rider! There were some very difficult sections in these events, including big rock walls with almost no run. In the muddy conditions these stopped many a rider! Matt seems to have developed a fearless attitude, and is not intimidated at all with this type of riding. This attribute bodes well for the future!

With both Wilson Craig and Jonathon English, from Ontario, currently lead the World Trials Canada Championships, and now with Matt Fracy quickly moving up the ranks the future for BETA and their Canadian importer Mountain Motorcycle looks very bright! Today being July first not only means it’s Canada Day but also that there are just 12 more days before we make the long trip out east to Morin Heights, Quebec, to ride the last two Nationals put on the by the ATAQ club. It looks to be a fantastic area and setup, so we are really look forward to it! Matt’s sister Micaela is going to attempt to do a daily blog about our trip East that will be sent to  www.offroadmotorcycles.ca everyday if anyone would like to follow it! Thanks and stay tuned! Another National title for Matt Fracy is now in play!
